Kindergarten — Ms. Shearlock “Mama Muppet”
My name is Katie Shearlock, but I am better known as “Mama Muppet”. I was given that nickname in 2008 when my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten at Pensacola Beach Elementary School.
I have been working at PBES since 2015 in the kindergarten classroom. I LOVE my job and my Kindergarten “friends”, because no two days are alike -it is truly a new adventure every day. I believe the enthusiasm, curiosity, and love of learning is captured best in the kindergarten classroom. There is no other grade I would rather teach!
My credentials include a BA in child development from Ashford University. I have mentored, for five years, under the extraordinary talents of Mrs. Jennifer Neal here at PBES. Her knowledge, expertise, and years of experience have prepared me to succeed in my classroom.
I grew up in Pensacola, Florida, and I feel a strong connection to the close–knit “beach” community and school family. I am the proud parent of two teenage daughters, both of whom are PBES graduates. We enjoy the relaxed lifestyle here in “paradise”.
I believe the most important thing I can do for each student is to instill and develop, a lifelong love of learning.
