Art

Our Art teacher, Mrs. Kim Spring

I’m Kim Spring and I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi surrounded by my family. I was a college cheerleader at Mississippi State University (along with my husband) in Starkville and graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in Art and Fitness Management. We moved back to my hometown where I began raising my four children as well as  teaching art in a home school program.

In 2011, we followed my husband’s company to beautiful Pensacola Beach for the oil spill and never went back. My youngest started at the beach school in 1st grade and that is when I fell in love with PBES. I began helping in the art room as a parent volunteer and transitioned to teaching here at PBES a few years later.

I love teaching kids how to express themselves with color and paint. It’s amazing to watch them just soak up the history of past artists and their work. To me, it’s not all about artistic ability, it’s about the courage to make that first mark on the big white blank sheet and see where it goes from there.
